Kamp Kamne

Franc Voga, Dovje 9, 4281 Mojstrana, (N/W Slovenia) . Kamp Kamne is a delightful, informal campsite covering an area of about 1.5 hectares, and can be found just outside the village of Mojstrana, not far from the exit of the Karawanken tunnel from Austria. Owner Franc Voga opened the site in 1989, on a small terraced orchard. Franc is steadily developing the site and facilities, adding more chalets and hardcore standings for caravans. Kamp Kamne has a small swimming pool, reception and small bar where the locals drop in for a chat and a beer while taking in the view across the valley of the Julian Alps.
The site is very popular with skiers in winter and Franc, being an avid skier will be happy to give you tips on the best skiing in the area. (Kranska Gora is about 10 minutes away) The summer month sees an influx of hikers as the three valleys lead west into the mountains from Mojstrana, including the trail to the ascent of Triglav, at 2864m/9396 feet, this is the highest point of the Julian Alps. Franc speaks German and is steadily improving his English, Franc is assisted by his daughter Anna who speaks fluent English. Although it has been said that we do not personally recommend any of the mentioned campsites, I can say that I pitched my twin axle Lunar Freelander here for three weeks and had a very enjoyable time. Franc, Anna and the people in the surrounding areas greatly influenced my decision to settle in Slovenia.

Facilities at Kamp Kamne are clean, well maintained and of high quality. Location is well marked on the north side of the A1, just to the west of the exit for Mojstrana, between Jesenice and Kranska Gora. Charges (2005/6) €5.00 - €6.00 per person, child (7-17 years) €4.00-€4.50, electricity is €2.00 per day, all charges are plus local tax, at the time of writing the local tax is €0.50 for adults and €0.25 for children per day. Franc also offers a long stay discount of 5% for 7 days, 10% for 14 days and 15% for 21 days or over. Kamp Kamne has laundry facilities for a minimal charge of €2.50 per wash or dry should your ski gear be wet. Dogs are charged at €1.00 per day. Open all year.
